Biography
Mallory Donen is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil Waututh First Nations. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of the Fraser Valley, and a Master of Fine Arts from University of Manitoba. Donen’s art explores the intersection of digital art and embroidery, through processes rooted in traditional craft passed down from generations of women in her family. By using the distinct grid format of cross-stitching she creates connections between threads and pixels.
Donen was the recipient of two Canada Council for the Arts grants from 2021-2022. She has exhibited solo and group shows, both nationally and internationally in the USA. Currently she works from her art studio at City Centre Artist Lodge (a former motel), in Mount Pleasant.
